STEM Teacher at The Greenwich Village School 

Ms.Sando has developed and taught her project-based curriculum which meshes NYC Science Scope & Sequence, STEM, and social studies to grades K-5. She also co-teaches an after-school program with The High Line. Ms. Sando has presented her work at the N.Y.C Department of Education Professional Development STEM workshops and was a consultant for Scholastic Elementary STEM lesson materials. While forming partnerships and liaisons with NYC Urban Green Building Council, the National Wildlife Federation, Organic Valley Family of Farms, and Rosemary's Restaurant has allowed her to integrate this knowledge into her lesson plans. 

 

She has coordinated guest speakers and supervised fundraising events as she handled media relations for GELL green roof and science programs. She is responsible for overseeing the design, management, and maintenance of PS41's GELL green roof and school garden, as well as conducting green roof tours. As a teacher, she has prepared green roof curriculum and served on advisory boards with industry professions to promote the benefits of educational green roofs. She also has published the website: www.educationalgreenroofs.org to further this cause.  Ms. Sando has received numerous awards and recognition for her work.
